The decision on the so-called Norway price was made last year and means that Norwegians can sign up for a fixed electricity price of 50 øre per kWh for the rest of the year.
The Norway price will be adjusted annually from January 1, 2027, and, according to NRK, the government now wants to raise it to 56 øre.
The Labour Party government believes that people should have security in the face of high and fluctuating electricity prices, Norwegian Energy Minister Terje Aasland told NRK.
Aasland says the new price will apply throughout 2027.
This means that even if there is unrest in the energy markets and electricity prices are high, people will still be able to choose a safe and predictable electricity price, the minister said.
The budget will be presented on Wednesday.
