As recently as July, the US imposed new tariffs of 12.5 percent on Norwegian goods, which can be compared with the US's EU tariffs of 10 percent.
But threats of new tariff increases have been made.
"There is a real risk that we could have further tariff increases. We should be fully prepared for that," Norwegian State Secretary Andreas Kravik told Bloomberg news agency after a meeting with Jeff Goettman, deputy trade representative in the Trump administration, on Wednesday.
According to President Donald Trump, they are motivated by the fact that Norway (and the EU) are not doing enough to combat forced labor in their supply chains.
