At the same time, the carbon dioxide tax on fuel for fishing and shipping vessels is being reduced to zero.
The decision will take effect on April 1, the Norwegian government wrote in a press release.
The measures are estimated to cost 3.3 billion Norwegian kroner and will apply until September 1 this year.
Last week, the Swedish government decided, citing the effects of the war in Iran, to lower fuel taxes to the EU minimum from May 1 to September 30. This will reduce the price of gasoline by one krona and the price of diesel by 0.40 öre per liter, and is estimated to cost SEK 1.5 billion.
