Norway backs proposal for Nordic super stock exchange

The proposal for a joint Nordic stock exchange gets the thumbs up from Norway. Øivind Amundsen, CEO of the Oslo Stock Exchange, sees advantages in closer cooperation.

We are positive about the initiative and the possibilities for a more frictionless market, he says.

The proposal was presented a few weeks ago by the Nordic Compass alliance, a group of 30 companies and foundations, including Nordea, EQT and Wallenberg Investments.

One alternative that has been put forward would be to merge the four Nordic exchanges into a common "super exchange", something that would strengthen the region's position and encourage more listings.
