Battery manufacturer Northvolt brought in untested machines from the Chinese company Wuxi Lead. This contributed to a delay in operations of at least ten months, DN reports.

DN has previously reported on the technical problems with the machines from Wuxi Lead.

According to documents from the bankruptcy trustee that the newspaper has seen, the equipment shipped to Sweden had not undergone any factory testing at the supplier. The reason was the pandemic, which meant that foreign citizens could not travel to China.

The supplier's engineers provided installation and other assistance on site in Sweden - but despite this, major and recurring technical problems arose with the machines. The consequence was delays of at least ten months and problems with scaling up production to higher volumes, according to documents reviewed by DN.
