The battery manufacturer Northvolt's chairman Tom Johnstone appealed to the government on Sunday for support to rescue the company from bankruptcy, reports Aftonbladet.

"Unfortunately, we have now reached a decisive and absolutely critical point, where we need a temporary financing solution for a few weeks. If this does not happen, we, as Europe's most advanced battery manufacturers, will face serious consequences", Johnstone wrote in an email to Minister of Enterprise Ebba Busch (KD) and Minister of Finance Elisabeth Svantesson (M).

He requested a meeting as soon as possible and warned that bankruptcy would threaten jobs and long-term economic and technological sovereignty. However, no response from Busch or Svantesson has been registered in the email thread.

Just a few days later, on Wednesday, came the news that Northvolt had filed for bankruptcy with the Stockholm District Court.
