"Today, there have been reports of several soldiers from North Korea. Our soldiers have managed to capture them. But they were very seriously injured and could not be saved," Zelenskyj announced in his recurring evening speech via social media.

Pyongyang is believed to have sent around 11,000 soldiers to support Russia, soldiers who are fighting against Ukrainian forces in the Russian Kursk region.

In a post on X on December 23, Zelenskyj said that over 3,000 North Korean soldiers had been killed or wounded in the battles in the border region of Kursk. The President did not specify the number of wounded or killed in his evening speech on Friday.

"They have suffered enormous losses," Zelenskyj said and added that Russian and North Korean commanders seem to be doing everything in their power to avoid Ukrainian forces capturing them alive.

Zelenskyj simultaneously urged China to use its influence to stop North Korean soldiers from being sent to Russia.
