The regime in North Korea has shown off a new long-range missile intended for the country's nuclear weapons program.

In connection with a large military parade on Saturday, which several foreign representatives participated in, a new intercontinental ballistic missile with the name Hwasong-20 was shown. The regime claims that the weapon system is the country's "most powerful".

North Korea has in recent years tested a number of different intercontinental ballistic missiles that can potentially reach the American mainland. The country's dictator, Kim Jong-Un, has long demanded more types of missiles intended to penetrate, among other things, American defense systems.

However, it is unclear how well Hwasong-20 would work for that task in practice, and according to the state-controlled news agency KCNA, the missile has not yet been tested.

At the parade, several high-ranking politicians and officials from China, Vietnam, and Russia were present, including the Russian former president Dmitry Medvedev.
