The launch took place from North Korea's east coast on Thursday, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reports.
These were about ten short-range missiles, an official at South Korea's Defense Staff told AFP.
The news comes as an international discussion about the dictatorship's nuclear weapons is under way. Earlier on Thursday, South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back said that the neighbouring country has an estimated 80-120 nuclear weapons.
The day before, US President Donald Trump claimed that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has “57 very powerful nuclear weapons.” Trump has also said he plans to meet Kim later this year.
