North Korea fired several ballistic missiles into the sea off the country's east coast on Sunday, according to South Korea's military.
The launch, which South Korea considers a test, is the first of the year and comes as South Korea's leader travels to China for a summit.
The South Korean Defense Ministry said the missiles were launched from a location near the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.
