The rainstorm along parts of the Norrland coast has left clear marks. Roads are washed away and residents isolated. Both roads from here are blocked so we cannot get anywhere, says Mariana Karlsson, who lives in Holm north of Skorped, to Örnsköldsviks Allehanda.

Around Skorped, five miles west of Ö-vik, the damage after the storm is very extensive. In pictures in the newspaper, you can see how parts of roads have been completely washed away and the rain has created meter-deep cracks, where brown water masses surge forward over large blocks of asphalt that have come loose.

For Mariana and Tommy Karlsson, the situation means that they cannot leave their home. The road outside the family's house has been completely flooded and resembles a rapids.

If I try to wade out onto the road, I dare not walk in certain places, because the water is so strong, says Mariana Karlsson to the newspaper.

She tells that the rain started falling at nine o'clock on Saturday evening, and then continued uninterrupted all night.

In the village of Järvberget, in the northern parts of Örnsköldsvik municipality, Thommy Carlson is stuck together with about 20 people since the road was washed away.

At least 100 meters have disappeared. And in the other direction, the road is also destroyed. So right now, we are stuck here, he says to Örnsköldsviks Allehanda.

Ove Lindberg, who has a summer cottage in Härnösand municipality, says to SVT Västernorrland that he has never seen anything like it in the 18 years he has had the cottage.

I'm almost shocked, I've never seen anything like it. The water in the lake has risen half a meter since yesterday evening.
