The Diocese of Luleå writes in a press release that the cathedral chapter has concluded that the priest “through the crime committed and his way of life has violated the ordination vows he made when he was ordained.”
Åsa Nyström, bishop of the Diocese of Luleå and chair of the cathedral chapter, says in the press release that the church must be able to set very high standards for those ordained to serve in the church.
“Depriving a priest of the right to exercise his ordained ministry is the strongest penalty the cathedral chapter can impose,” says Åsa Nyström.
