On his computer, the man had more than 8,000 images and 24 films that are considered particularly inappropriate.
"It's something I've been actively interested in. I've felt a longing," the priest said in an interview, according to the newspaper.
According to NSD, the priest stated during questioning that he felt a sense of relief in connection with the revelation. He has also confessed to the crime.
The priest has worked in several municipalities in Norrbotten. He did not have a permanent position when the crimes were discovered, but served as a substitute as late as the summer of 2025.
On October 6, the cathedral chapter will decide on possible sanctions. The priest could, among other things, lose his title, the Church of Sweden writes in a press release.
