The joint procurement will speed up deliveries, reduce costs, and benefit our defense industrial links, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) at a press conference together with Lithuania's Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas.
In the spring, a letter of intent will be written between the countries. The value of the procurement is not known.
The Stridsfordon 90 is manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik.
We are discussing at least several hundred vehicles, and they are quite expensive. On the other hand, we are increasing our defense budget, and Lithuania is definitely doing so, says Kristersson, pointing out that Lithuania allocates over four percent of its GDP to defense.
Gintautas Paluckas also met with the Speaker and representatives of all parliamentary parties during his visit to Sweden. They discussed, among other things, the transatlantic relationship.
When asked if Europe can rely on the USA, Paluckas responds:
It's a very complicated question, because you have to check social media every morning to see what's happening in the USA.
But I believe we will get through these turbulent times and get the USA on our side in supporting our region, he says.
