One single goal separated Mjällby from a secured Swedish Championship gold. But goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist is not worried about any upcoming gold fever. We will be more hungry than ever, he says.

Now Törnqvist can focus – on the first A-national team assignment. He got a place in the World Championship qualification squad on Wednesday after Robin Olsen suddenly chose to end his national team career.

The entire Sölvesborg and surrounding areas had hoped to celebrate Mjällby's first historic SM-gold on Sunday afternoon. But after Hammarby's 2–1 win and three points away against IFK Göteborg, calm prevailed on the city's streets and squares.

"A bit sad"

We have had fun, nice with community. But a bit sad that it did not become clear today, says Noel Törnqvist.

Until the end, there was a chance, when Göteborg pushed properly for an equalizer.

When they got the reduction, it became exciting.

Noel Törnqvist is not worried that the team will be affected by any gold fever in the final rounds.

I do not think so. This is just up to us, I think we will be more hungry than ever in the last four matches, says the goalkeeper who after the season will become a pro in the Italian Serie A club Como.

To Stockholm

Instead of a gold party, he could devote the rest of Sunday to preparations for the national team gathering, where he is one of the association captain Jon Dahl Tomasson's three goalkeepers in the two upcoming World Championship qualification matches.

I will go to the wall (Strandvallen) and pick up my things, says Noel Törnqvist.

The national team gathers on Monday and starts with a lighter training session on Bosön with a few players.

On Friday, Switzerland awaits on Strawberry arena and a few days later Kosovo on Ullevi in Göteborg – matches the national team must win to be able to take the group victory and directly qualify for the finals in North America this summer.
