The Royal Dramatic Theatre presents Aleksijevitj's book "Second-hand Time" as a staged reading, adapted and directed by director and writer Dmitri Plax. He too was born in Belarus, and the two converse on stage about their homeland's history and present day.
Aleksijevitj is a Belarusian author and journalist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2015. In her documentary works, she portrays historical catastrophes from the perspective of individual people.
On March 25th is the so-called Freedom Day, "dzien voli", when Belarus first declared its independence in 1918, which the current regime does not celebrate.
Participating in the reading are, among others, Thérèse Brunnander, Thomas Hanzon, and Kristina Törnqvist.
