No leak – rather espionage. This is what the Secretary of the Nobel Committee, Kristian Berg Harpviken, says in the aftermath of the Nobel Peace Prize being made public.

It is too early to say completely for sure, but it is no secret that the Nobel Committee is subject to espionage, says Harpviken to Norwegian TV2.

On the question of whether it is espionage, rather than a leak, Harpviken responds:

Most likely it is espionage.

Harpviken says it may be a matter of digital espionage.

María Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. The Venezuelan opposition politician was not mentioned in the advance tips, but during the night to Friday she suddenly became a big favorite. And Norwegian media have reported that a newly started account on the prediction market Polymarket should have made around half a million kronor by betting money on María Corina Machado.

Harpviken said on Friday that the Nobel Committee will investigate the matter.
