Eight games in the 2024-2025 season and 60 last year. No more were needed because the NHL club's management saw the value in signing a long-term contract with the 22-year-old.
"He's a coach's dream because he's the type of player you don't really have to coach very much. He pretty much knows where he's going to be almost all the time," coach Lindy Ruff said earlier this year.
Östlund has played for SHL clubs Djurgården and Växjö. He has also played for Buffalo's farm team, Rochester.
