According to Washington Capitals general manager Chris Patrick, the Swedish hockey defenseman is expected to be out some time into the next NHL preseason.
"He's going to miss a lot of time, which will affect how we operate in the preseason," Patrick told TSN.
The 26-year-old missed the team's final two games of the regular season after being injured in the game against Pittsburgh on April 11.
The Ice Hockey World Championship will be played in May in Switzerland.
