With a win away against Sevilla on Sunday, Barcelona can close in on the two Madrid clubs at the top. Currently, Real Madrid is first with 50 points, Atlético is second with 49, and Barça has 45 points, but with one fewer match played.
It was Atlético Madrid that took the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium through Argentine Julian Álvarez, who scored 1-0 on a penalty in the 35th minute.
Five minutes into the second half, Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe secured a point for the home team with his 1-1 goal.
