A 55-year-old woman died and two men were seriously injured.

The taxi driver who ran over the three individuals at Triangeln in Malmö city center is suspected of gross negligence leading to another person's death, gross negligence leading to bodily harm, and gross negligence in traffic. Initial questioning has been held with the man, who is in his 50s.

In this situation, we do not know if this is about some kind of technical fault, some handling error, some kind of illness - or could it be that what happened was intentional? There are a multitude of different questions that we still need answers to, says Malmö police's press spokesperson Nils Norling.

He emphasizes that nothing in the investigative material gathered suggests terrorist motives or terrorist connections.

He is completely devastated and feels very bad after the incident. What happened is a tragic traffic accident, says defense attorney Kristoffer Ståhl to Sydsvenskan.
