When high school students are admitted to Swedish prisons, it poses challenges for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to teach practical subjects such as home economics and crafts. Swimming and orienteering will be completely absent.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service believes that the institutions lack the right conditions.

"Building swimming pools inside the prisons is not technically or economically possible. And we will not be able to go out and visit the municipal bathhouse because the risk of escape is quite high," says the head of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, Åke Svensson, to P3 News.
