No one is believed to have survived the powerful explosion at a weapons factory in Tennessee on Friday, reports AP.

We have not found any survivors, says the local police chief Chris Davis at a press conference on Saturday.

Davis has previously stated that 18 people are missing, but the total number of fatalities is unclear. So is what caused the explosion.

It is said to have been impossible for rescue workers to initially enter the facility as several explosions followed each other.

Aerial photographs of the factory area, where they manufacture explosives for both military and civilian purposes, show a completely destroyed building with smoldering wreckage and scattered vehicle wrecks.

When Davis was asked to describe the building on Friday, he said there is nothing to describe.

It's gone.
