The MLS club had used Messi as a major promotional attraction ahead of its home match against Miami in 2024.
Ticket prices skyrocketed, but the star trio, Messi, Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets, were left in the United States because of upcoming home matches.
Disappointed supporters were compensated, among other things, with lower prices on food and drinks, but that didn't help. A man who had bought two tickets for more than 4,000 kronor, together with other supporters, initiated legal proceedings; the parties have now reached a settlement.
MLS and the Whitecaps will donate 3.2 million kronor (475,000 Canadian dollars) to three charities in the Vancouver area.
