No Help from Iran's Allies in Regional Conflict

Iran's most powerful ally, the Shia militia Hizbollah, will not launch an attack on Israel, according to sources. In an unusually low-key statement, the now weakened militia condemns Israel's attacks – without threats of retaliation.

Israel has long been surrounded by Iran's friends in the so-called axis of resistance.

But the pro-Tehran militias have been significantly reduced by Israel over the past two years. The axis of resistance's crown jewel – the Shia militia Hizbollah – has still not recovered from the intense fighting last fall, when the leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed.

What remains of Hamas has been fully occupied with trying to defend the Gaza Strip, and Syria's pro-Iranian dictator Bashar al-Assad has left his country and is believed to be hiding in Moscow.

Condemns – but does not respond

Last year, large parts of Iran's robot arsenal were destroyed, and even in the recent attacks, it is believed that Israel has managed to knock out the weapons that Iran appears to have prepared for a counterattack, according to the American think tank ISW-CTG.

The reduced power of Iran in the region is evident in statements from the militias in the axis of resistance. In a statement, Hizbollah condemns Israel's attack on Iran. However, threats of military retaliation are omitted.

“Hizbollah will not initiate its own attack on Israel as retaliation for Israel's attack,” says a Hizbollah source to the news agency Reuters.

The militia group Kataib Hezbollah condemns in a statement the fact that Israel attacked Iran over Iraqi airspace, without mentioning anything about a response to support its allies in Tehran.

Killed Palestinians

The only actor who has so far responded militarily is the Iran-backed Huthi movement, which on Sunday claims to have fired several rockets from Yemen over the past 24 hours, at “sensitive targets” in central Israel. According to the reports, it happened in coordination with Iran's military.

Even the Huthis have lost strength since, above all, the US has launched attacks in response to the movement's attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, one of the Huthi attacks hit the Israeli-occupied West Bank and killed five Palestinians, including three children.
