"All the parties have different wishes and we want to use Monday to consider a number of political proposals before we move forward with the negotiations," Lund Poulsen writes in a post on Instagram.
The Venstre leader was appointed last week as the new prime minister by King Frederik X after the country's outgoing Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen failed to form a new government in just over a month.
It is unclear when negotiations might resume.
The protracted government formation process after the election on March 24 has taken a record-long time.
