The Environmental Protection Agency will not appeal the verdict that gives Heidelberg Materials the right to continue extracting limestone in Slite on Gotland, writes the authority in a press release.

It was in early May that the Land and Environmental Court in Nacka announced that Heidelberg Materials, formerly Cementa, may continue to extract limestone for a 30-year period>

Previously, the Environmental Protection Agency and Heidelberg Materials had different opinions on the permit, where high natural values will be lost.

The authority states that the company has adapted the protective measures and tightened the conditions in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency's and other parties' wishes during the process.

"The Land and Environmental Court has partially met the Environmental Protection Agency's demands," says Lena Lidmark, lawyer at the environmental protection unit, in the press release.
