Switch 2 is similar to its predecessor, a handheld game console that can be connected to a TV for a more stationary experience. The first Switch is the third best-selling game console of all time, with 150 million units sold since its launch in 2017, behind Sony's PlayStation 2 and Nintendo's own DS.
Nintendo reports that they have sold 1.3 billion games for the console. Potential Switch 2 buyers will be able to play their existing Switch games on the console, with a few exceptions, when it launches on June 5.
During a one-hour presentation, Nintendo went through what's coming on launch day and what's waiting ahead. There was a lack of hard news, including the fact that there is still no exact price for the console.
Among the games, aside from upgraded versions of existing titles, only three major news items stood out: "Mario Kart World" will be released on the same day as the console, "Donkey Kong Bananza" will be released on July 17, and "The Duskbloods" will be released first in 2026.
