Gaming giant Nintendo is aiming for record-high sales of Switch 2. Around 20 million consoles are expected to have been sold in March next year when the broken fiscal year ends, reports Bloomberg with reference to sources.

Before the end of March, Nintendo wants to totally manufacture 25 million units of the newly released console Switch 2.

The shares in Kyoto-based Nintendo have risen by more than 50 percent in the past year and the turnover is expected to increase by 68 percent, driven by record sales of the new hardware.

Nintendo has now asked its manufacturing partners to increase production, based on the belief that demand will continue to increase before the Christmas holidays and into the new year, according to sources to Bloomberg.

Nintendo's future depends to a large extent on Switch 2, which costs around 6,000 kronor in Sweden, becoming a success. The company has more than doubled its marketing expenses around the launch in June to ensure a strong start.

The goal of selling around 20 million consoles during the fiscal year is clearly above the analysts' forecasts.

In the USA, which is the largest market, Switch 2 is selling better than its predecessor from 2017 by 77 percent more. New titles such as "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" are expected to drive sales further.
