According to police, there are enough similarities between the murders, all of which took place in Ekurhuleni near Johannesburg, to "issue a public warning."
The unidentified woman found on Thursday is believed to have been in her 30s and had a clear stab wound to her side. Her throat is believed to have been cut, according to police chief Fred Kekana.
The murders have led to an extensive investigation and highlighted the serious problem of femicide, as well as the high level of violent crime that has long characterised South Africa.
