The attacks took place in southern Lebanon, writes WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a post on X:
"Groups of medics were working on site in five Lebanese villages when they were hit in attacks," the post says. It also states that over 120 healthcare workers have been injured since the beginning of the month.
The Iranian-backed militia group Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2, drawing Lebanon into the war raging in the region. Since then, Israel, which has violated the ceasefire it signed with Hezbollah in November 2024 on an almost daily basis, has carried out large-scale attacks on Lebanon, especially in the south.
