”This year's prize winner is rewarded for a long, strong and ongoing photographic achievement, with a gaze that is as curious as warm”, says the jury's chairman Lena Kvist, from Borås Tidning, in a press release.

Nina Korhonen was born in 1961 in Tammerfors in Finland and lives in Stockholm. The jury emphasizes how she “masterfully” portrays people regardless of whether the pictures are taken at home in Sweden or in foreign continents.

The prize is established by Tore G Wärenstam's foundation and is awarded in collaboration with Lars Tunbjörk's foundation, to a photographer who works in Lars Tunbjörk's spirit. The prize amount is 25,000 kronor and the prize winner's pictures will be exhibited at Borås Art Museum starting October 11.
