The headquarters and an anti-aircraft battery that was attacked in the same operation were located on occupied land in the Kherson region, according to Zelenskyy's post on X.

“The Russians must feel they need to end their war,” he writes.

The attack was allegedly carried out by the Ukrainian security service SBU.

Unconfirmed reports from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense claim that Russian losses - that is, killed or injured - have amounted to around 1,000 a day recently.

Earlier on Thursday, The Kyiv Independent reported a Ukrainian attack on an oil refinery in the Russian city of Syzran in the Samara region. According to the region's governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, two people were killed.

Ukraine regularly attacks military infrastructure deep inside Russia in an attempt to reduce Moscow's ability to continue waging its war.

Meanwhile, Russia continues its daily attacks on Ukraine. According to Ukrainian emergency services, one person has been killed and six injured in overnight attacks on the northern, southern and eastern parts of the country.

Several explosions have been heard in Dnipro and Kharkiv, the public service broadcaster Suspilne reported on Thursday morning.
