Öberg loses ground in the World Championship. The Swedish total third-place finisher misses the entire competition weekend in Italian Antholz due to illness, and the two worst competitors continue to perform at the top.
In Thursday's World Cup sprint, France's Lou Jeanmonnot, second in the World Cup, won the competition with full shooting and total leader Franziska Preuss, Germany, came third, also with zero misses. Another German, Selina Grotian, squeezed in as second.
In Elvira Öberg's absence, big sister Hanna Öberg became the best Swedish competitor with one miss in the standing shooting and an eleventh-place finish, 57.5 seconds behind Jeanmonnot.
I'm doing a stable competition today. I would have liked to be a bit more relaxed in the standing series, but on the track, I do what I can for the day, says Hanna Öberg to SVT.
Ella Halvarsson also had one miss and became 18th, 1.16 behind the winner.
The other three Swedish women – Anna Magnusson, Anna-Karin Heijdenberg, and Johanna Skottheim – will also participate in Saturday's pursuit, where the 60 best in the sprint qualify.
