Here is the news Sweden's new national team captain Graham Potter did not want to hear: Lucas Bergvall is injured and was forced to leave the derby against Crystal Palace.

Bergvall started for Tottenham when the team faced Crystal Palace in a London derby in the Premier League on Sunday.

Just over an hour into the match, concerns arose about the Swedish midfielder. Bergvall sank to the ground in obvious pain, first holding his left leg before moving his hand higher toward his groin.

After several minutes of treatment, the 19-year-old was forced to leave the game. Bergvall left the field limping and was replaced, with Spurs leading 1-0.

The injury comes at a sensitive time. Sweden is scheduled to play in the World Cup playoffs at the end of March, with the semi-final against Ukraine in Valencia on March 26.

There have been injury concerns in Sweden's attack for some time now. Alexander Isak recently broke his leg and Dejan Kulusevski has been out of action since last spring.
