It was shortly after 11:30 p.m. that several residents nearby reacted to the fact that the church bells suddenly started ringing - and just kept ringing, writes Hallands Nyheter.
"We received some calls at a quarter to twelve, but do not consider the incident to be a suspected crime," said Håkan Johansson, a police press spokesman, to the newspaper.
On the pastorate's Facebook page, pastor Staffan Orrdal writes:
"Of course, that was not the intention and right now we cannot say whether it is due to a technical fault or if someone unauthorized has entered and started the clocks. Regardless of what has happened, we apologize for disturbing and worrying people."
