Nigerian military claims to have killed more than 60 jihadists in attacks in the northeastern part of the country.
Early on Friday, the military carried out two separate attacks against the terrorist movement Boko Haram and the rival Islamist extremist group Iswap.
"The intense battle resulted in at least 60 terrorists being neutralized, according to a statement.
In recent months, Nigeria's military has lost many soldiers in battles with the two groups. Boko Haram and Iswap have increasingly taken over military bases, killing soldiers, stealing weapons, and burning down bases.
The groups have also intensified against villages in the state of Borno and the neighboring states of Adamawa and Yobe.
