A penalty shootout followed immediately after the final whistle.
Nigeria were the stronger side. The team scored four of their five penalties and took home the bronze medal after Atalanta's Ademola Lookman scored the decisive fifth penalty.
Egypt's star Mohamed Salah missed his penalty, as did Manchester City's Omar Marmoush. Those misses proved decisive for Egypt, who will go home without a medal.
The final of the African Championships will be played on Sunday at 8:00 PM between Senegal and Morocco.
