The children were taken from their school in the town of Papiri in Nigeria. More than 300 people were reported to have been abducted in the attack in November. Around 50 have previously managed to escape and another 100 kidnapped people were released earlier in December, according to local media and UN sources.
Mass kidnappings are a common occurrence in Nigeria. For criminal and armed groups, they can be a way to obtain significant ransoms. It is unclear whether military pressure, ransom or other types of negotiations led to the children's release.
"Another 130 abducted students in Niger State are free, none remain in captivity," Dare wrote on social media.
