Manchester City were unbeaten in the league this season heading into their away game in Birmingham. Now that run has ended, and the club risk a hefty punishment for breaching more than 100 of the Premier League’s financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
After an hour at Villa Park, Nicolas Jackson scored the winner past City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
It was Jackson’s second goal of the day. He had opened the scoring in the sixth minute, firing the ball into the roof of the net after Manchester City had carelessly given it away.
Top scorer Erling Braut Haaland equalised for the visitors early in the second half.
