Most recently Nicklas Bäckström scored a goal in SHL, or Elitserien as it was called then, was 2007.
18 years later he is back in the highest series in Swedish ice hockey – and now also as a goal scorer. Bäckström scored the first goal in the away game against Färjestad, 19 minutes into the first period.
It was quite nice actually, he says during the first period break.
He tells TV4 Play that he has not been walking around thinking about that he has not yet scored any goal in SHL.
But I have felt it, that's how it works in sports. It was nice to break it today, he says.
Bäckström got an open road when Färjestad's defender fell.
It was a bit of flow, you need that sometimes, he says.
Brynäs won the game 2–1.
