Three Crowns face Latvia on Wednesday evening in their fourth World Championship match.
After three straight wins, most things have gone Three Crowns' way at the start of the tournament.
But now there are concerns surrounding Vancouver defenseman Pettersson and Calgary veteran Backlund, the vice-captain of the team, who was absent during Tuesday's practice.
They weren't on the ice today, they did some rehab. We feel pretty calm and secure about it, says Hallam.
Three Crowns have four open spots in the World Championship squad and already on site are three players who haven't been registered in the squad yet.
They are defenseman Gabriel Carlsson, Zug, and the forward duo Max Friberg, Frölunda, and Christoffer Ehn, Linköping.
Is it possible to register any of them?
We'll see. It'll be a decision for tomorrow. We're very pleased with the group that has played so far and feel secure with it and are very happy that we have a couple of players on site who we know can go in and do well directly too, says Hallam.
