First sauna and then down into the cold water. The NHL teams Florida and Dallas' visit to Finland is not just about ice hockey. It's good for team morale to socialize, says Swedish Dallas defender Nils Lundkvist.

The NHL season's "Global Series" was first in the Czech Republic – where New Jersey and Buffalo faced each other – and now the North American league is visiting Finland.

There, Dallas and Stanley Cup champion Florida will play two matches – but the visit is also about taking part in another culture.

They are taking a sauna, having cold baths, and getting a taste of Finnish food culture.

It's definitely good to do something instead of just hanging out in a hotel room. You get tired pretty quickly. It's hard to stay awake, says Swedish Dallas defender Nils Lundkvist about the short visit to Finland to nhl.com.

The players in Dallas have eaten salmon soup and other delicacies, such as reindeer.

I just hope it wasn't Rudolf, says Matt Duchene according to the news agency AP.

Florida's coach Paul Maurice has been to Finland before. He likes the hockey interest, but maybe above all the food.

If I had a free week here, I would probably hang out in the quarters around the harbor and explore places, he says according to nhl.com.

I would eat as much smoked fish as possible. Smuggle it into my stomach.

The clubs are starting their visit with a couple of days in the capital Helsinki before playing the matches in Nokia Arena in Tampere.

Dallas–Florida, Friday at 19.05.

Florida–Dallas, Saturday at 17.05.
