The goalkeeper's start to the season has been marred by injuries, and he has only played in four games.
Despite that, Markström's contract with the club will be extended by two years, the Devils confirmed on Saturday night.
The new contract is valid from the 2026-2027 season and is worth 12 million dollars, which corresponds to almost 114 million kronor.
The Swede came to New Jersey for last season, when he left Calgary after four seasons. Markström was drafted in 2008 by the Florida Panthers, and has played in North America since leaving Brynäs after the 2009–2010 SHL season.
