According to Bill Daly, the NHL's deputy commissioner, an announcement could come as soon as the end of 2026.
"We are taking steps forward when it comes to Texas," he says.
The North American Ice Hockey League currently consists of 25 teams from the United States and seven from Canada. The state of Texas has previously been represented by Dallas. The most recent addition to the league was Seattle, which joined in 2021.
