The Dallas Cowboys write on their website that the club woke up to the worst possible news on Thursday.
"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys announce the tragic passing of Marshawn Kneeland this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers for Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family," the Dallas Cowboys wrote.
Kneeland was in the middle of his second season as a defensive player with the club and just last Monday scored his first touchdown of his NFL career.
