Neymar was substituted late in the round of 16 against Norway, and managed to win a penalty, which was saved. But it was not enough when Erling Braut Haaland had already scored two goals.
"I tried and I tried. It started here and it ends here," Neymar told a journalist from Globo Esporte after the loss to Norway.
Neymar scored his first goal for the Brazilian national team in 2010 at the same stadium, MetLife Stadium in New York, when the country faced the United States and won 2–0.
If this is the end, it would be 80 goals in 130 international matches for Neymar, who now plays for Santos in the Brazilian top league.
