The classic stage race Giro d’Italia is relocating its first three stages to Albania next year.
On May 9-11, cycling enthusiasts in Albania can follow the world elite on their own roads.
The first stage offers 164 kilometers between the port city of Durrës and the capital Tirana. The latter will also host a time trial over 13.7 kilometers before all cyclists are transported to stage 3, which starts and finishes in Vlora.
Directly west, but on the other side of the Adriatic Sea, lies Puglia in Italy. The fourth stage will begin there on May 13.
The remaining program will be announced in January.
