According to the Argentine court, the 45-year-old supporter organised a series of threats against Angel Di Maria.
Among other things, shots were fired at Di Maria's house and a pig's head with a bullet in it was left outside a real estate firm owned by the football star's sister.
His daughter was also threatened.
The Newell's Old Boys supporter wanted to scare Di Maria into not returning to his boyhood club, Rosario, Newell's local rivals.
Earlier, a 25-year-old woman was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in the same case.
Despite the threats, the transfer went ahead. In 2025, Di Maria left Benfica for Rosario and led the team to the championship title straight away.
