New Zealand's Prime Minister Christopher Luxon wants to introduce an age limit of 16 years for social media, he announces on Tuesday.

According to a draft of the bill on the matter, companies operating on the market will risk fines of up to eleven million kronor if they fail to maintain the age limit.

The proposed ban is based on an existing model from Australia, which passed a similar law in December last year.
